At this time of year we are all susceptible to a case of the winter blues. The cold can get to you and when the holiday season has been and gone it’s normal to feel a bit lost and down. Fortunately, the days are now getting longer and we are out of the worst of it but here are some ways to brighten your spirits and get you through the last leg until springtime.
Yes, it’s very cold out there but sometimes it’s lovely to wrap up warm, make yourself a flask of herbal tea and go on a brisk winter stroll. Winter sun is an instant uplifter, so on those few days when the sun dares to comes out and the sky shines that lovely bright blue make sure you get out and take it in, 5 minutes in the sun will make you feel a whole lot better.
MAKE IT COSY
When your inside for an evening, make your surroundings warm and welcoming. Check out Pinterest for interior decorating ideas and light all the candles you own. Snuggle up on the sofa and indulge in your favourite TV show. Embrace the cosiness!
HIT THE MAT
If you haven’t before, this is a great time to try yoga. You can venture to a local class of enjoying it from the warmth of your own home. Get a YouTube video on and try some new poses. It cleanses the mind, relaxes your senses and strengthens your body.
If you’re feeling down, it’s a great time to look after yourself. Run yourself a bath with some lovely Epsom salts and a few drops of essential oil and bathe for 10-15 minutes. Once out, massage a rich face cream into your face and neck for a radiant glow. Try our natural anti-ageing face cream with rosewater and rosehip oil for a beautiful nourishment.
LIFT YOUR SPIRIT
Essential oils are marvellous for lifting your spirits the best one for what’s known sometimes known as S.A.D are Jasmine, Lemon, Rosemary, Bergamot, Clary sage, Orange, Rose and finally Sandalwood which was traditionally used by Buddhists as a therapy for anxiety, depression and insomnia, while Tibetan Monks used it to focus the mind and relax the body. Try scenting the room with one in your burner or vaporiser or you could add a few drops in your bath.
The most important thing to remember is that this feeling is normal and you’re not alone. Feeling slightly unmotivated is common at this time of year and we are all in the same boat!
