Want to get lovely, soft hands ready for summer? The colder winter months coupled with washing hands and bathing in hotter water can leave your hands feeling dry, rough and uncomfortable. We’ve often heard that nothing gives away your age more than your hands and to a certain extent that is true. Some believe that expensive hand creams are the answer however they can be loaded with chemicals and they always ignore a vital step in getting soft skin: EXFOLIATION. As with your face or any other part of your body, the moisturiser won’t sink in properly and do its job unless old layers of skin are sloughed away first. Instead, why not fight rough, dry and cracked winter hands with a food-based homemade scrub formulated especially for your hands!
For the base of your scrub all, you will need is 1 cup of sugar ( you can use salt if you prefer, or Himalayan salt for a more nourishing blend). ½ a cup of olive oil ( you can use melted coconut oil if you like) and a 1/4 cup of your favourite body or hand wash and that’s it!
Simply mix together the ingredients in a bowl. Add more sugar/salt if you want a more harsh scrub and add more oil if you want something more gentle. It should be a medium thick paste if not add oil/hand wash or sugar/salt or exfoliator of choice until you get the right consistency.
This DIY is so versatile and you can add anything you want to it. Essential oils are great, so add a few drops of your favourite and mix in. Here are some more ideas:

HOW TO USE IT
For soft, supple hands use every day until your dry rough patches disappear. For best results apply to dry hands adding a little water at a time to build up slowly to a lather. Use gentle pressure and wash off thoroughly with warm water. Don’t forget to moisturise after!
